Digital signage setup guide for gyms
A practical guide to planning, mounting and running digital signage in a gym, including content scheduling, screen placement and maintenance.

Screens in a gym can show class timetables, live heart-rate leaderboards, member announcements and sponsor content. Done well, they make the space feel busier and more useful. Done badly, they become glare on the treadmill row and an endless loop nobody reads.
Plan the placement before buying hardware
- Map the sightlines from the entrance, the weights area and the cardio floor
- Avoid placing screens directly opposite windows to reduce glare
- Mount at a height where people can read from a standing position
Choose a player that suits commercial use
Consumer streaming sticks are not built for long hours. Commercial media players or purpose-built signage displays are more reliable and easier to manage remotely. Check that the device supports scheduled playlists and can recover automatically after a power cut.
Keep content short and current
Members glance at screens for a few seconds. Use large type, limit each slide to one message and update class times the moment the timetable changes. Stale information damages trust faster than an empty screen.
Cabling and power
Use proper containment for cables, label every run and put the player on a surge-protected circuit. Network-connected players also need a stable connection, so plan the switch port and Wi-Fi coverage at the same time as the screens.
Schedule maintenance
Ask your AV technician to check brightness, mounts, network connectivity and software updates every few months. Gyms are dusty, and small problems grow quickly when they are left alone.
